Laila's Year Reflection

My Year In Grade 5....... This year was a wonderful year and surely one to remember all thanks to Mrs.Kasal and I'm sure that the other classes think the same way!!! Grade 5 is one of the most important years of our life and this because for 5 long years of our life we were building a base and this is the final one. Our teachers have done there best to prepare for this ride that's soon to come. I want to give a final thank you to all of you for helping us get ready!!!!! (Special thanks to my mom and dad too)

Responses To Parent Questions:

1:What did you try this year that is new and surprisingly you enjoyed?????

I tried many new things like swim team, Math Olympiad, Madagascar production, and among many others and more on the way!! Most of the things i did this year I enjoyed and sometimes even had a blast, while others not so much. I really enjoyed all three, and all the others, because I never was on a swimming team, or I wasn't ever representing school in math, or I wasn't even in such a professional play!!!!, And finally ETC

2:What do you feel you grew or developed in this year????

I feel that I mostly grew and developed in everything this year but what I was most proud of was my reading because in FMP testing I jumped from being a T to being a Z!!! I also noticed that in math i also took a great big leap so ya.

3:How do you feel you can better prepare yourself for grade 6:

I think that I can be more organized in sixth grade, because if your not organized in middle school in my opinion you will be a mess, and do we really want that to happen???? No. I strongly believe that that fifth grade is supposed to prepare you and it did. If you saw me last year!!!

Reading:Reading has always been a very special subject for me and I will admit that throughout the year I tried to avoid jotting but honestly now I know why we jot and how it helps us. Still I don't like it but I'm pretty sure I improved from the beginning of the year, and a way to make sure is that in the beginning I didn't even know the meaning of jotting!! Usually love and enjoy Reading I don't just do it for homework. My favorite reading genre is Realistic Fiction I also enjoy fantasy but my number one is for sure Realistic Fiction

Writing: Writing is one of my favorite subjects. Well, Usdally. That occurs when we are looking at the unit of poetry. This unit really reflects on one of my favorite core values which is creativity. Another thing is that sometimes I enjoy other units. I enjoyed wting because usually their was no right nor wrong. I think I improved one of the most subjects which is all becaue of hard work and Mrs.kasal!!!!!!!

Science:Science has always been SO interesting, fun, and I will always learn something new. Science is amazing because there isn’t a right or wrong. Science of the discover things that are brand new to us and helps us in many ways. Like for examples some plants help us cure diseases when the get put into medicines. That is one of my favorite things about Science ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If your day to day job in the future is to be a scientist, after years of hard work, who knows what you may discover one day???

Math:This year math was weird. In the beginning of the year I didn't get ANYTHING!!!!! But with the help of Mrs.Kasal for always telling me I could do better and for believing in me!! And with the help of my parents who were also SO supportive and kind I soon found myself representing the school in math. That just about tells you that you should never give up. Although most people don’t love math or even like it (Sometimes that’s me) Math does help you through life, you just got to admit it!!!!!

Social Studies:Social studies is usually very learnable while I know that is not A word I think it is perfect to Describe social studies. In social studies you learn so many new things and adding on to that you learn about the past. In my opinion social studies is sometimes a bit like history.I still remember when we did the Montezuma project we did a ton of research about what they personally thoughts and acted like it was the old times. Now we are working on thesis statements. I think I grew in social studies quite a bit now that my researching skills have improved.

Citizenship: When I first entered CAC I felt like they were huge family of teachers,  administration, faculty, staff, Students, janitors, and anyone who ever entered the gates of CAC including the parents.Another thing that shows citizenship in CAC is the amount of smiles you get every morning when you walk in. It is amazing people different countries, different colors of skin, different colors of eyes, different cultures, different religions, different beliefs, and different points of view. Even though everyone is different we still treat everyone with respect, like we’re a huge family

Core Values:The CAC core values are Compassion, Courage, creativity, respect, responsibility, perseverance, and integrity.I am happy to say that I have experience each and everyone of them and learnt the best from them. Compassion has made me feel really passionate about whatever it is I’m doing. Courage has taught me to tackle whatever challenge comes my way and do anything I can to have the best year ever. It has also taught me to try everything possible even if I fail I get back up again. Creativity has taught me to always be myself and to let my imagination flow. Respect has taught me to treat everyone the way I want to be treated. Responsibility has taught me to do what I’m told to do and do no other. It has also taught me to think before I do any actions because sometimes actions speak louder than words. Perseverance has taught me to never give up and always go the extra mile no matter how difficult it is. Finally Integritt has taught me to always be honest and to have strong principles. I’m so thankful for all what the core values taught us.

Most Challenging:I think that the most challenging thing this year was math class. This was because I was new to this eureka system and didn’t take the same thing they took in fourth grade so most of them new everything. Last year my teacher didn’t push us to our limits, so I was pretty weak. I think I didn’t get one answer right but when I started getting the hang of it and I check the answer and I find out the results I’m SOO happy and full of enthusiasm and the whole class just looks at me thinking “Honestly what world is she living in???” Soon I started geing the hang of it and before I knew it I improved by pretty good bit!!!

Most Enjoyable:On of my most enjoyable classes or lessons is usually writing in the unit of poetry, this is one of my favorite lessons because it gives me the chance to enlighten my creativity which is always super fun. Creativity is always one of my favorite core values.

Most Proud Of:Something that i'm proud of is my social evolution. I came to CAC as the new girl I never was and i'll admit I didn't have the greatest first day I was quite didn't talk and was late to snack. Now I have many friends that I love and trust!!!!!

Most Growth:I think my most growth is in reading. I think that I improved a lot in reading because inmy last FMP testing I went from a T to a Z!!!!!! I think this proves that I read a lot andi enjoy it!!!! Another thing is that reading is one of my favorite things to do in my free time or when before I sleep.

4 Corner Activity Reflection

4 CORNER ACTIVITY REFLECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the things I enjoyed about this activity was that everyone has there own reasons and when you put them all together it makes sense. For example when Mrs. Kasal read the statement "-Technology has negatively affected close family time." Some people said it does because everyones always on there phone instead of having a proper conversation at a restaurant but then automatically the other group responded with something similar how would you feel if you weren't in touch with your family on a school trip or what if you wanted to skype your parents or your siblings???? So as you can see both sides have a point and both sides are right. Thats another thing I like about this activity it's that YOUR NEVER WRONG IT'S YOUR OPINION NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                               The Wadi

As the wind blowed against my skin a ton of ups and downs came into view. I started to see it the wadi. As the dust cleared from my eyes I heard a voice. My  friend Nadia said "Does this trail ever end"  and that woke me up from my daydreaming.

Nadia was right we had been walking for soo long my legs started to ache.
Finally when we reached our destination and sat down. We sat on rocks ,who knows they could have been be corals. Mr.Bill started talking about how the Wadi was created EROSION. Yes thats it. Most of the wadi was created by water erosion. But where did all thet  water come from to make this creation????

Mr.Bill can scientifically prove that the wadi was an OCEAN!!!! He found fossils of sea creatures isnt that enough proof???? Anyway what do you think about this whole adventure????????

Experiment one:Water Erosion

                                                            Question

What happens to land when water flows over it?????

                          Hypothesis:

I think that the land with the water flowing on it will  get deeper and deeper beacause the water will take the sand with to the cause of presure

                               Materials:

The materials we used were, the stream table, clay, sand, science sand, ruler, bucket, plastic cup, and water

                                      Procedure:

                                      Observation:

                                   After

                                      Conclusions

I learned that the water takes the land with it

Laila The Scientist

My name is Laila. My favorite topic in science is life science. This is my favorite topic because you get to learn about so many different plants, animals, and all the special things about them.Until now my favorite thing in science that we have took so far is probably the biome project, because when i was working with a close friend it made me feel confident about my work, we were pushing each other up and encouraging each other. personally if i was to grow up and become a scientist i think that my job would be a astrologist. This is because I would really love to learn more about our solar system and the things in it. Some strenghs that i have that help me in science class is knowing the meaning of what someone is talking about like i understand and I can get the  most important things out of it. A skill that i need to work on that slows everything down is stress.I really need to work on that.
